Ultherapy is a treatment that we offer in our state-of-the-art Brooklyn clinic that uses a device called “ulthera” to boost collagen production, regenerate damaged tissues, and revitalize your skin using your body’s natural response. Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared non-invasive procedure that takes 30-60 minutes to perform. It does not use synthetic chemicals (like those used in Botox) and is often used in gynecology to tighten loose belly skin after having a baby.

Ultherapy Treatment

Are you worried about loose belly skin after having a baby? It can be horrid to have your skin stretched during pregnancy. Your breasts may also sag slightly. But worry no more!

The ultimately effective procedure for tightening the skin is called Ultherapy. Collagen is an integral part responsible for your skin elasticity. Collagen is a natural protein that keeps skin firm and toned. As we age, our skin noticeably starts to lose its elasticity. Ultherapy treatment essentially boosts your body’s own collagen-creation process without downtime.

Ultherapy treatment areas include:

  • Face
  • Lips
  • Eyes
  • Breasts
  • Belly

How Does Ultherapy Work?

The Ultherapy procedure is almost similar to an ultrasound performed in the gynecologist’s office to check the fetus. Ultherapy creates a thermal effect beneath the skin by using microfocused ultrasound that boosts your body’s own collagen-creation process. The ultrasound waves generate the self-healing process in your body. First, the areas that need the tightening treatment are identified. Then, the gel is applied, and a handpiece is used to direct ultrasound waves throughout the treatment area to stimulate the formation of new collagen. Ultherapy delivers localized heating to the deep dermal layers of the skin, with temperatures reaching 60-70°C at depth, activating the body’s healing response and stimulating collagen and elastin production.

According to studies, maintaining a high temperature for more than 3 minutes, as provided by Ultherapy treatment, causes your body to release heat-shock proteins, which stimulate your body to create new collagen fibers. This is known as Neocollagenesis. Neocollagenesis is a natural way for your body to respond to inflammation after an injury, similar to healing or wound repair; it is the formation of new collagen in scars. Increased fibroblast stimulation and collagen deposits are the results of this inflammation.

Of course, Ultherapy is not the only treatment available. For decades, gynecologists have been recommending surgical procedures to get rid of the sagginess of your belly. However, there are some excellent points that distinguish Ultherapy from the other techniques. This article will discuss in detail the benefits of Ultherapy Treatment.

Is Ultherapy Treatment Non-Invasive?

Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure performed after the use of topical numbing cream, and it may take approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Compared to other options like facelift, it doesn’t require a surgical incision. There is no scar to deal with after the treatment. No surgical instruments are involved therefore no risk of contamination.

It can also be used in conjunction with other procedures like Botox etc. for obtaining better results.

How Long is Ultherapy Treatment Healing Time?

The healing process is quick because Ultherapy does not involve scalpels or incisions. A mild inflammatory reaction is expected, which causes redness and edema. It is your body’s response to the treatment that helps to improve the results by increasing skin regeneration. Ultherapy has no downtime. Bruising should not be an issue because there are no needles involved. You can immediately resume your normal activities.

But the healing process is affected by the following factors:

  • Smoking
  • Alcohol
  • Advanced age
  • Extensively photo-damaged skin
  • BMI more than 30kg/m2

The preliminary results are visible immediately following the procedure. However, because collagen synthesis takes time, noticeable tightness will be visible in 2-3 months.

Are the effects of Ultherapy Treatment Long-Lasting?

Since Ultherapy treatment takes a natural course to repair your skin, immediate results are not maximal. Collagen synthesis takes time, so results appear gradually.

The results from Ultherapy treatment typically last two years.

The treatment generates new collagen, but even with natural collagen regeneration, the skin continues to age. As a result, we recommend Ultherapy to our clients once a year as part of their regular skincare routine.

Ultherapy Side Effects?

Ultherapy is a safe, non-surgical procedure that has been cleared by the FDA. But It has minor, non-significant side effects which may include:

  • Redness and swelling of that area may occur immediately after the treatment but they resolve after a few hours.
  • Mild bruising due to soft tissue injury may occur but it fades within 2 hours
  • Although you experience mild discomfort or pain, it resolves within 24 hours
  • The procedure should not be done if there is an open wound in the targeted area
  • numbness or tingling are expected right after the procedure
  • It is contraindicated in pregnant and lactating mothers

Ultherapy vs Thermage

Thermage is used to treat wrinkles on the face and under the eyes, as well as to improve wrinkles and bulges on the body. Ultherapy is the only non-surgical treatment that’s been approved by the FDA specifically for tightening the skin on the neck, chin, and brow area. We were one of the first practices in Brooklyn to offer Ultherapy.

Ultherapy Machine

Ultherapy uses ultrasound beams to deliver focused energy without causing peripheral tissue damage. In our center, we only use FDA-cleared HIFU devices. Significant amounts of research have been done on the ultherapy technology in order for it to receive its FDA approval. We have seen excellent results with the ultherapy in our Brooklyn NYC clinic.
