SURGICAL ABORTION

A surgical abortion is performed using dilation and vacuum curettage.  It is a low risk procedure and is statistically nine times safer than childbirth itself.  After signing a consent form, the doctor will perform an ultrasound to determine the length of pregnancy.  The surgical abortion can be performed up to 14 weeks of pregnancy.  Both local and general anesthesia are available thus, you have the option of being awake or asleep.  The average length of stay is approximately one hour.  This includes the time that you enter the office, complete paper work, have the procedure and recover from anesthesia.  Following the abortion procedure, our staff will schedule a two week follow up examination for you with one of our physicians.  Birth control, pap smears and all routine GYN care may be obtained with a doctor from our staff for your immediate and all of your future GYN needs.  Call us at 718-624-0604 to make an appointment.
